Patience

There is Power in Patience. I'm at a weird stage in my life. I'm inbetween jobs, girlfriends, housing, cell phone plans, and even Dad's (mom gets married in 2 weeks). So I heard I was going to be studying patience and my heart dropped. The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word patience is "patient" and the image is a patient in a waiting room sitting slouching on their chair, completly helpless and at the demands of someone else. And yet after good study of the scriptures I'm convined that there is great power in patience. Patience is not about sitting there waiting for something to happen to us but rather an active, positive approach.

A person with patience is determined, unwavering,

there is also a connection to charity. (see general conference talk oct 2006 oaks "the power of patience") suffereth long, the word suffereth is interesting. suffer the little children to come to me, etc


There is a strong connection in the scriptures between Patience and Faith. How is Faith and Patience connected? What is patience? Is there a difference between patience and waiting around?

I'm at a weird stage in life. A stage were certain things like dating have lost some of there glamour and appeal. Dating is the perfect example of the struggle I have with patience. I know I will get married "one day." And yet for a million same reasons it's just not happening right now. For me to be patient what should I do? Move on with my life, career and make myself more appealing in other ways? date every week regardless of my interest level and keep trying to find prospects?

patience is an interesting paradigm. Somehow I think the idea of being able to step out of the box and put it all in the Lords timing is the key message of it all.
